Floods in over 200 villages in Pakistan

Heavy rains have caused floods in Sindh province of Pakistan. Over 200 villages were submerged in the floods, while thousands were displaced. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in a statement that more rains are expected in Sindh, including Karachi, from August 6 to 9.

Climate Minister Sherry Rahman warned that more torrential rains were likely in Sindh and Karachi, where torrential rains in July caused widespread flooding and damage, killing at least 39 people.

Heavy rains and ensuing floods have killed at least 500 people across the country since the monsoon began in Pakistan in mid-June.
