While the corona virus epidemic grew rapidly in many countries, especially in Turkey, with the Omicron variant and its subtypes, a warning came from England that caused concern.
EnglandSpeaking to Express, one of Turkey’s leading media outlets, immunologist Denis Kinane made the statement. While the eminent scientist recently drew attention to the rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic, he said that a very unknown symptom could change the course of the disease.
“There has been an increase in the number of patients compared to the same period last year,” Kinane said. The eminent scientist said that patients of Kovid-19 may have symptoms in their mouth. “Coronavirus patients may have symptoms such as high fever, cough, loss of smell, but there is one symptom, which is not very noticeable and is in the mouth,” Kinane said.
Kinane said that because of Omicron’s ba.4 and ba.5 subtypes, the disease spread rapidly, and one of the symptoms in the patients’ mouths was aphthae. While the scientists noted that there may be lumps and swelling on the tongue, the condition may persist at times, he said.
On the other hand, this symptom was confirmed in a study published in the International Journal of Dermatology.
In the study, while the symptoms of 59 Covid-19 patients were examined, it was said that 24 patients, i.e. about 36.3 per cent, developed aphthae.
