69 migrants rescued off the coast of Izmir, 21 caught



Coast Guard Command teams acted on information that there was a group of irregular migrants in a life raft off the coast of Dikili at around 02:00 on 4 August.

21 irregular migrants in a life raft pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements were rescued by the assigned Coast Guard boat.

The same day, at around 07.50 pm, the teams acted upon information about a group of irregular immigrants in a rubber boat off the coast of Karaburun district.

Again, 48 irregular migrants in rubber boats, determined to be pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements, were rescued by Coast Guard teams.

The Coast Guard began operations at around 17.55 a.m. on 4 August, when it was reported that there was a group of irregular migrants in a rubber boat off the coast of Dikili district.

The mobile rubber boat, which was traced by the assigned Coast Guard boat, was intercepted and 19 irregular migrants were apprehended.

The rescued and apprehended irregular migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management after their health checks and procedures. (UAV)
